1. They are essentially bare tube evaporators coated with fins, which increases the contact surface area for heat transfer and makes them more effective than bare tube evaporators.

2.  Finned evaporators are commonly used in larger areas, such as window, split, packaged, and central air conditioning systems.

3.  They are made using a prime-surface bare-tube coil and installing metal plates or fins to increase the heat transfer surface area.

4 . The spacing between the fins varies based on the intended application, with fin density generally about 7 fins per inch in HVAC/R applications using forced convection air circulation.
